The Basics of Red Dog for Beginning Players

Once offered in many Atlantic City casinos, it is hard to find a Red Dog table anywhere aside from the internet these days. If you would like to play this game online, it can be found at BoDog.com.

Red Dog is a casino version of the popular poker game known as "Acey Duecey" or "In Between". This game is dealt with a standard 52-card deck (or decks) and all cards are worth face value. Aces are always high.

In Red Dog the player is initially dealt 2 cards. The basic premise of the game is that if the player is dealt a 3rd card that is in between the first 2, the player wins. If not the player loses.

How to Play:
The player bets and is dealt 2 cards face up. If the cards are in consecutive order (like 2-3 or J- Q), the hand is a push. If the two cards match, a 3rd card will be dealt. If the 3rd card is the same, the player is paid 11 to 1 on his initial bet. If the 3rd card does not match, the hand is a push.

If the two cards dealt are neither consecutive nor matching, the dealer informs the player of the spread between the cards and the cards that the player needs to win. At this point the player may increase his bet up to the amount of the original wager. Then a 3rd card is dealt.

The spread in this Red Dog is important because the player is paid odds on the spread if he wins. In order for the player to win, he must be dealt a 3rd card between the first 2. If the 3rd card is equal to either of the first 2, the player loses. The spread is listed below:
